The cancelations includes flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Nha Trang, Da Nang and Hai Phong cities and Thanh Hoa Province.
Vietjet said eight flights from and to Hai Phong would be rerouted to Noi Bai Airport in Hanoi.
Vietnam Airlines said it would operate two more flights on the Da Nang-Pleiku route Friday and two others on the HCMC-Thanh Hoa route Saturday to ferry passengers affected by the cancelations.
Dianmu, the third storm to hit the country this year, is expected to affect Noi Bai, Vinh and Dien Bien airports Friday. Pleiku is also expected to experience unfavourable weather conditions in the next few days.
According to the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting, torrential rains began throughout the northern and north-central regions Thursday afternoon.

It said the mountainous provinces of Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Son La, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Ha Giang, and Cao Bang and mountainous areas in Thanh Hoa, Nghe An and Ha Tinh are at risk of flooding, flash floods and landslides.
The storm is intensifying and forecast to hit the coast between Hai Phong and Ninh Binh Provinces at around 10 am August 19, with winds of 75-100km per hour.
Dianmu dumped more than 300 mm (12 inches) of rain over parts of Hainan Island earlier in the week.
According to AccuWeather, the potential for further strengthening will end after Diamu makes landfall Friday.
It is expected to weaken into a tropical rainstorm Friday night as it continues to track westward.
