Day 1: Hanoi - Ba Be Lake.
Day 2: Ba Be Lake - Cao Bang.
Day 3: Cao Bang - Ban Gioc Waterfalls - Bao Lac.
Day 4: Bao Lac - Meo Vac - Dong Van.
Day 5: Dong Van - Yen Minh - Quan Ba - Ha Giang Discovery.
Day 6: Ha Giang - Hanoi.
An early start after your breakfast in your hotel to the day to make the most of what we have in store for you.
We will pick you up from your hotel in Hanoi at 07.30 hrs, then hit the road north towards Ba Be National Park.
Lunch will be had in a restaurant in a village on the way, and then our route will take us up through the mountains and tea plantations to Ba Be lake, amazing green lake in the middle of natural green forest.
We then travel to the Tay village of Coc Toc, with its beautiful stilt houses and friendly population of Tay people, who make their living by fishing in the stunning Ba Be lakes and farming. You will stay in the homestay of a local family here that has been resident in Ba Be for many years, enjoying their wonderful hospitality, and have some time in the evening to explore the beautiful surroundings.
You may also wish to take the option of walking or cycling around Coc Toc village, kayaking on the lake in boats that we reserve for our tour guests, or simply relaxing in the peaceful surroundings and enjoying the views.
Dinner and overnight in local homestay.
After breakfast at the homestay, we will go on foot to Bo Lu boat station to embark on a 3 hour boat trip, gently touring around the lake.
The boat takes you through the entire length of the 3 connected lakes (Ba Be - "3 bays") The boat then goes up river to the small village of Hua Tang. A short walk (20 m) through the jungle takes you to the very scenic Thac Dau Dang Waterfalls, a series of spectacular cascades between sheer rock walls and up the Nang River, to an astonishing site: Dong Puong Cave, an enormous tunnel (300m long by 30m high) that the river has dug through a lime mountain. After lunch at Cho Ra town, we continue to drive towards Cao Bang. Here the ethnic groups of H’Mong, Dzao, Tho and Nung live together in harmony. We will arrive in Cao Bang town in the late afternoon. Check in your hotel, free walking around the town.
* Cao Bang: At 300 kilometres north of Hanoi, Cao Bang is used as a base camp for all our expeditions to destinations close to the Chinese border. The region north of Cao Bang is dominated by limestone. Hence its scenery is similar to that of Ha Long Bay or Guilin (China) and offers unprecedented driving enjoyment among some of the most spectacular surroundings in Vietnam.

We explore into the magical region of the far north-east with its impressive limestone karst scenery. We meander around and through the countless rock monoliths all the way to the huge Ban Gioc Waterfalls which sits on the Chinese border. We can swim under the falls and picnic on bamboo rafts.
* Ban Gioc Waterfalls: In this closed off region, where thousands of limestone monoliths loom high above paddy fields tended by Nung, Tay and Green Hmong peoples, you will find sealed, winding roads which make for wonderful Vietnam motorbike ride. The entire area rewards those willing to take the time to explore and share life with its people.
The driving offers unique landscapes, limestone karst formations soar from the verdant rice paddies of the surrounding farms of local ethnic minorities. Along the way, you will see Tay, Hmong and Dzao ethnic minority groups. Lunch in restaurant nearby Ban Gioc waterfalls, heading back to Cao Bang.On the way, we come to visit the expansive 2,144 meter Nguom Ngao Cave to discover its brilliant stalactites. Return to Cao Bang then keeping driving to Bao Lac town.

We say good bye Bao Lac for Dong Van, Ha Giang. Keep your camera ready with lots of films for today since we will be hitting the Heaven – a more beautiful place, here we are surrounded by many rocks of all shapes and sizes, chances to see and even visit the traditional houses of the hill tribes here. The scenic route climbs over a pass, and then we descend down to Meo Vac valley, a beautiful valley situated very close to Chinese border.
Have lunch in local restaurant then we take time to climb over the Ma Pi Leng Pass where we can enjoy beautiful mountain ranges and the the Nho Que river – just an amazing place to be! We keep hitting the zigzag roads to Dong Van, visiting these remote areas, we will witness how hard the locals struggle with their environment for survival and development.We will stay in town to get the chances to visit the ancient streets with old houses of the H’mong made of clay bricks and tile roofs, built centuries ago.

Before leaving Dong Van, we visit Dong Van Old Quarter, Dong Van market, Ha Giangis only open in Sunday morning. We climb a pass up to the French Fortress of Pu Lo, built in 1890 and evacuated in 1945, from which we enjoy a spectacular view of the entire region. then a leisurely drive from Dong Van to Yen Minh & Quan Ba, this trip will make your itinerary a good pace, not in a rush. We will pay a visit the infamous Vuong Palace, a H'mong family of high rank during French colonial rule - this palace attracts keen interest from architecturally minded visitors due to its mixed style of European and Chinese architecture. We then hit the road back to Quan Ba and downhill to Ha Giang for accommodation.

Today the trip finishes, we will check out our of accommodation and goodbye your host. Return Hanoi via Tuyen Quang where we will have lunch and some stops for landscapes to take photos. Dropped off at your hotel in Hanoi in late afternoon. End of services.
